Colony Bankcorp seems to be colonizing Georgia. The multibank holding company owns seven financial institutions doing business under variations of the Colony Bank name throughout central and southern portions of the state. The banks operate more than 25 branches in all. They offer traditional fare such as checking and savings accounts, NOW and IRA accounts, and CDs. Real estate loans, including residential and commercial mortgages and construction and farmland loans, make up the largest portion of the company's loan portfolio, at more than 80%. The banks also issue business and consumer loans.
